PBS Family Night at SECC

PBS Family Night at SECC

Stafford Early Childhood Center is proud to partner with PBS Houston to offer parents resources that PBS offers online. This event made the resources that are offered online, available to parents and students through a variety of stations and resources that were made accessible to parents.  The stations presented allowed parents to practice ways that they can work with their students in the areas of social-emotional learning, literacy, and math.

After the Stafford Municipal School District Chief of Schools, Dr. Dawn Dubose was contacted by Houston Public Media, the planning of this amazing event began under the direction of Verlincia Prince SMSD’s Family Engagement Coordinator.

She stated, “This was an amazing way to help our families engage with their students by providing things that can be used at home to help their students learn and grow.”

This was a wonderful opportunity to offer resources to students, parents, teachers, and the community.  From the student choir performance under the direction of Mr. Vaughn, the encouraging words by Superintendent Dr. Bostic, to the many stations and activities, it was a family fun-filled night. The hope is that this collaboration will strengthen the school and community partnership for years to come.
